Hundreds of Montrealers, law enforcement officers, politicians and athletes braved the cold Saturday for the 17th annual Polar Bear challenge in Montreal’s Lachine borough.

Every bowling alley at Quilles Moderne was occupied on the evening of October 21 by over 250 special needs kids, adults and their families, representatives from resource organizations, sponsors and Lions Club members. They all came out to play at the Montreal Autism Community Lions Club (MACLC) and Avalanche Kidz Hockey Development Program’s “Special Smiles Bowling Tournament.”

“I feel rich when I give of myself measuring my wealth by how much I enrich the lives of others,” she said. Pietro, now 22, is a proud graduate of Summit School. He also attended Peter Hall School and has benefitted from many Miriam Foundation services. “I have always felt blessed as Pietro has [taught me], and continues to teach me, far more than I could have ever taught him,” said Zemanovich. “I will continue guiding him towards as much independence as possible.”
